About Lisa

Through music I have encountered scores of fabulous people and developed many important relationships. Music festivals and band tours were some of the most memorable parts of my youth. Making music with other people has been and continues to be a profound social experience.

My goals for each student that comes into my studio are as diverse as the individuals. I help my students improve on tone and technique. I follow different courses of curriculum for building technical facility, as well as learning about musical ornamentation and skills like vibrato and double tonguing. Students may also work on Extended Techniques like multiphonics, harmonics, throat tuning, flutter tonguing, pitch bending, microtones and even circular breathing. We pick appropriate literature for recitals, competitions and other public performances. I work with students on audition music for things like: school band/chairs, District and State Band auditions, music festivals and camps, college admission and scholarships.

Even if a student does not go on to pursue music professionally I hope that all of them will cherish their musical experiences and continue to play their flutes throughout their lives. I hope they develop a greater appreciation for, and understanding of the music that surrounds them.
